A Sweet Bunny Birthday Surprise
For Emma’s Sixteenth birthday we wanted to get her something really special. She knows she’s getting her dads truck so giving that to her wasn’t a very big secret/surprise gift.
Instead, we decided to surprise her with a bunny!
Meet Beatrix, also known as the best gift ever, according to Emma.
Emma has always wanted a bunny and it was so fun to surprise her with one.
Our day started with some of our favorite donuts from West End Bakery in Mishawaka, Indiana. They are so light and fluffy while also being rich and gooey and decadent. Highly recommend this old fashioned, long standing, local bakery. Calvin, Nick, and I decorated with balloons and a banner. I loved the way it looked and now I'm wondering why I don't have balloons around more often!
Emma took a shower before our donuts arrived and came down before church in her “It’s My Birthday” shirt. I just love how cute our little lady is!
Also before church her brother surprised her with her gift, a swiss army knife! He lovingly used an entire roll of packing tape to wrap her gift in. What a treat to get to unwrap, haha. It took her a good half hour to get her gift unwrapped which I think Calvin definitely enjoyed more than Emma. Emma lost her swiss army knife down at the lake last year. It was really thoughtful of Cal to think of getting her a new knife. He picked out a pretty blue one for her. We all love it and seeing all of the gadgets that it has.
Here are the kids and Leroy…all ready for church. Well Leroy didn’t go to church…he worshipped from home. As you can see, our kids are kind of silly.
After church and youth group, we went out to eat at Brothers at Notre Dame. The kids love this restaurant. Emma highly recommends the chicken tenders with the root beer gravy. Calvin recommends the hot wings and the Nashville Gold Chicken sandwich. We all recommend the fried pickles.
Then we hurried home. Nick and Cal took off to go get the bunny, Emma helped me tidy up, and we got ready to have family over for cake and ice cream to celebrate the birthday girl!
We celebrated with Emmas favorite…chocolate cake! Nicks parents picked out ice cream from Costco and as always, it was so good! The cake was from Costco too and it was so rich and yummy. Emma opened so many gifts from family. What a blessed little girl we have!
And of course…We surprised Emma with her bunny! She was so over the moon and was truly surprised. We spent the rest of the evening mooning over the bunny and visiting with family.
It was a simple celebration but so sweet. I'm so thankful for our family, living close to be able to celebrate together, the value of community, and our sweet girl the Lord blessed us with.
Happy sweet sixteen, sweet Emma Kazoo!
