Fridays Question on Frugal February, Day 10
Happy Friday, sweet friends!
This morning we had a meeting with a specialist regarding Emma’s concussion. It was a blessing that our marriage counseling had been cancelled due to a funeral because it was scheduled for the exact same time. Amazing how God takes care of us and clears the path for what we need.
Emma was diagnosed with having a severe concussion. We are kind of back to square one. We left with a good plan of how to cut back and how to start adding things back in. We go back next week to review progress and then we’ll get a day by day schedule. The good news is her doctor was the doctor for the U.S. Boxing team so I feel like in terms of concussions, we are in good hands!
Calvin was supposed to attend a winter retreat with his youth group this weekend but is very sick with a cold. He sounds terrible and is one of those situations as a mama you wish you could take away from them so they weren’t in pain and missing out on fun.
Today our only purchases were gas, whipped cream (you know for my coffee), and we had to buy a thermometer for Cal…ever since we moved we haven’t been able to find ours.
This weekend we have a lot of projects around the house going on. Especially, painting and wallpaper stripping. The hope is that today we will be able to finish stripping the wallpaper in the classroom, patch the walls and be ready to paint on Sunday.
I’m not sure if it counts as spending money because we are buying paint. However, we purchased shingles for our home to be reroofed and have several hundreds of dollars in a rebate from the store. We are buying the paint with that rebate gift card instead of with our money. Not sure if I should count that as spending but to me it is money we did not earn or have to do anything to acquire (since we were purchasing the shingles anyway) so I am counting it as a free purchase.
Speaking of purchases, I need your advice…
I wasn’t going to get anything for the kids for Valentine’s Day. I was going to be hardcore in this Frugal February. However, the closer we get to the holiday, the more I want to get them something. What do you think?
On this no spend month, is it okay to get them a little something? And if it is, what do you think I should get them?
I am just so torn about this and would really value your opinion!
Speaking of celebrating Valentine’s Day…tonight was our big celebration!
We had Lobster Bisque from the clam shop, Blounts, in Rhode Island, crusty bread, and a glass of plum wine. And…we ate it on TV trays. We watched “Only Murders in the Building” while we ate which was quite romantic. It was a special, fun night and lobster bisque is our favorite. I found it on sale for $5.00 out shopping! Such a steal !
